Help me with a new domain name!

Okay, I'm getting a new domain name to host some of my sites, but I don't know what yet, I was thinking maybe song lyrics or titles (which work well, see Weird World)

Here are some of my random thoughts of the moment as I look through my iTunes music most played:

(these will either be .com .net or .org depends which one I can get, they may also have -s in them)

Wow. My most played songs are NOT helpful in this situation. The only slightly useable ones are Son of Dork and McFly. But they do make up most of my most played. Erm, I'll look through different artists:

You probably won't believe this, but a friend of mine was the tour bus driver for the BSB for a long time. He brought the bus to my house before Umm, without the band of course!

He gave my other friend a pair of jeans that Nick left on the bus. My friend should've sold them on ebay for sure, but he just wanted them to wear

I think that Post-Modern is a better choice than those we suggested. I would choose it over easy way out too.
I think it is great because it does relate to what the site is about. The name Post Modern Designs...makes me believe that they are really original and that you have good ideas to make cool layouts and websites.


This might be a little off-topic but where did you get it ? What did it include ? How much did it cost to get a .org ? I want to get one but I do not want to spend too much money in it.

Years ago I was fortunate to take an honors class on Post-modernism taught by Dr. Robert Dettweiler of Emory University. Since that time I've not been among any people who could really even discuss the subject. Kind of funny somehow that I'd discover your site through this forum, hehe

I got the domain for 2 years, as I do with all my domains, it cost around £10, the actual cost is $17 I think. I got it at http://www.netrillium.com. You can get a .com or .net there too for the same price. But that's just for the domain, I have hosting elsewhere. At http://www.frozenmidnighthosting.com They're quite cheap for what they offer. And they're pretty helpful too, they did have that whole hacker thing going on, but that's over now and the service has been really good.

What is post-moderism? Is it something really complicated that I'd never understand? I'm not even sure what the song's about it, I just know it's ace

I made a layout for it featuring the Madden twins, but it looked REALLY bad, and being a design site it kinda needs to look REALLY good. lol. I will keep trying to make an ace layout, I made this CSI one for my communications class talk, maybe I should use that. I'm also making a Good Charlotte one for my technical authorship class, that one's okay too I think. I'll show you guys when I've adjusted them for Post Modern Designs

Sarah, it would be my pleasure to try and define and explain postmodernism to you, but it would require more than a few words. I have very good notes, some of them already transcribed, which I'd be glad to share with you.

I could just private message you some text, or whatever you wish. I am also a pretty good archivist and have other materials and reading lists from the class that may interest you.

If for some ODD REASON any other posters are interested, I don't mind posting more publicly here, but that's hard to imagine

In short though, it is considered a movement following modernism, so one needs to examine what that was as well for perspective. Alternatively, it might be considered only a phenomena of modernism, and not itself a movement.

Some of the most significant characteristics of postmodernism are the blurring of fact and fiction, calling into question historical perspective, and attitudes of parody that focus playfulness and seriousness on the subject at the same time. Well, I can only really scratch the surface like this, but just give the word and I'll bore you to tears with more
